Growing Business magazine - features editor & sub-editor

Growing Business was a print magazine for entrepreneurs running fast-growth businesses in the UK, with an ABC circulation of 38,000. I joined the magazine as a junior writer in 2006, and became features editor and sub-editor in 2009.

During my four years at the magazine, I wrote 10 cover features and interviewed more than 500 of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, including Sir Tom Farmer, founder of Kwik Fit; Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, founder of The Black Farmer; Kanya King OBE, founder of the MOBO Organisation; Neil Hutchinson, founder of Forward; Lord Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer; Karen Hanton, founder of TopTable, and more.

As well as profile interviews, I wrote lots of features for the magazine on various aspects of scaling a business, with topics including raising angel investment; becoming an angel investor; franchising your business; forming joint ventures; taking on industry giants as a challenger brand; how to pitch to journalists; rebranding your business, and knowing your customer.
